Biography of Allan Kirby
Allan Kirby plays banjo, guitar, and Dobro and enjoys
a blend of folk, country, blues, bluegrass, and jazz.
Allan has a B.A in Music from Queen's University and
a Masters Degree in Adult Education from St. Francis
Xavier University. Allan has taught music privately for
35 years. He also taught at a community college and
guest lectured at two universities. Allan played pedal-
steel guitar and guitar with performers such as
Washboard Hank and Dennis O'Toole, and Jon Piper
& Matchbox. He played banjo for four years with the
bluegrass band McCormick. Allan has performed on
numerous recordings and a film sound-track; He
recently released a solo CD, and co-wrote and
performed in the folk musical “Fowke Tales”.

Allan has performed at venues such as Toronto's Glenn Gould Studio Theatre,
Belleville’s Empire Theatre, Picton’s Regent Theatre, Lindsay’s Academy Theatre,
Cobourg’s Victoria Hall, The Old Anglican Church in St. Thomas, River Valley
Bluegrass Festival, Palmer Rapids Bluegrass Festival, Shelter Valley Folk
Festival, Peterborough Folk Festival, and The Fred Eaglesmith Invitational Picnic.
